VAMPIRE ZOMBIES IN SMALL-TOWN AMERICA – FAD OR TREND?
Time for another dose of blood-sucking, fleshing-eating fun? Well look no further than the next DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN! This week UNCLE PETE digs up the 1973 chiller Messiah Of Evil (aka Dead People). Arietty (Marianna Hill) heads to the small town where her artist father is (or was) only to find a spooky, empty house, a bunch of his weird artworks, and his diary and letter directed to her and detailing some kinda creepy goings on that Arietty doesn’t really understand (yet). She encounters the nattily dressed Thom (Michael Greer) and his two ever-present groupies and the creepiness begins to unfold. Then of course there’s the legend of the Blood Moon and some grisly deaths thrown in for color (something lacking in her father’s paintings).
This film has a couple of notables as directors/writers/producers – namely Willard Huyck and Gloria Katz who brought us the film version of Howard The Duck and the screenplay to one of those little known car flics – American Graffitti.
Also featuring Royal Dano as the narrator and Joseph Long and Elisha Cook Jr. as the addle-brained town drunk who just might know more that you think, it from 1973 – Messiah Of Evil.
Meanwhile, UNCLE PETE digs up the usual good crop of trailers and such and VITO GOLD makes an appearance in a public service announcement to Wipe Out Stoopidity. It’s a blood-filled fun-fest, this Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 10PM on channel 4. So join UNCLE PETE for Messiah Of Evil on the next DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!
