A CAUTIONARY TALE FOR YOU BACK-TO-SCHOOLERS (AND A SMOKIN’ GOOD TIME)!!!

UNCLE PETE READIES FOR ANOTHER TRIP INTO CINEMA WONDERLAND

We here in THE DARK VAULT rarely miss an opportunity to perform a valuable public service when such an opportunity presents itself.  So, since school of all levels is newly back in session, UNCLE PETE figured it was high time to warn students and faculty, young and old, about some of the dangers that you may try, er, uh, face in the midst of your scholastic endeavors.  With that in mind, join UNCLE PETE this week for REEFER MADNESS a bona fide cult classic scare film and one of our fan favorites. Originally released in 1936 as Tell Your Children, an anti-marijuana educational film, it stars Carleton Young as Jack and Thelma White as Mae – a couple of scurvy pot dealers.  It also stars one of the DARK VAULT’S favorite performers Dave “Tex” O’Brien as Ralph, a strung out, unbalanced ex-college student (someone we can relate to).  They soon get youths Jimmy (Warren McCollum) and Bill (Kenneth Craig) turned on to some real good cigarettes, starting them on a downward slide into the dark, destructive world of cannabis.

Reefer Madness is probably the greatest departure in the career of Dark Vault favorite Dave “Tex” O’Brien who spent much of his long career in westerns (many with Tex Ritter) and East Side Kids movies.  Originally intended as an educational movie directed at parents to warn them about the pitfalls of pot, Reefer Madness made its move into cult movie super stardom after NORML founder Keith Stroup bought a cheap copy in 1971 and began to circulate it in the college movie circuit.

Back at the Dark Vault, UNCLE PETE seems to be feeling the effects of something El Vato is burning.  But while relaxing in the den, he brings you the usual offbeat assortment of shorts, a  film from the 60’s called Keep Off The Grass and a musical interlude called Radiation Baby Azul stops by to demonstrate a new use for a Vito Gold product and UNCLE PETE tickles the ivories between assorted refreshments and snack breaks along the way.

UNCLE PETE FINDS SOME SHOWS ARE MORE RELAXING THAN OTHERS

So grab lots of munchies and turn on (your TV set) and tune in this Saturday night,  September 6, 2014 from 10PM to midnight on channel 4 (Binghamton), channel 99 (Elmira/Corning), and channel 17 (Sayre, PA).  It’s murder, debauchery, and some jazzed up piano playing as UNCLE PETE goes green with the 1936 cult classic Reefer Madness, our feature presentation on the next DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN.
