UNCLE PETE AND SAMMY COUNT TO TWO – AND BEYOND – THIS WEEK IN THE DARK VAULT CRYPT

It’s a trip for two (two features, that is) to the wild west this week in THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN.  Join UNCLE PETE for a double feature from The Dark Vault Crypt deep beneath the Cinema Graveyard in an evening of radioactive rowdies and six-gun slingin’ sidewinders.

First up, from 1961, it’s Beast Of Yucca Flats starring Mr. Sexy himself, Tor Johnson, as a Russian defector who wanders into the blast zone of an atomic bomb test. He gets a little mutated and croaks a few of the locals.  Directed by Coleman Francis, this movie used the groundbreaking technique of being filmed entirely without a soundtrack.  They used to call those films silent movies, but in this case we just call it low-budget.  All sounds and dialogue were added afterwards (you may notice that you never actually see anyone talking).  Also starring Douglas Mellor, Barbara Francis and Bing Stafford, it’s Beast Of Yucca Flats.

Our second feature keeps us out west, but back to the old west with a man who was  an Olympic swimmer, Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, Tarzan, and numerous B western heroes – Buster Crabbe.  He’s joined by sidekick Al “Fuzzy” St. John in Fugitive Of The Plains.   There’s a gang doing crimes and pointing the finger square at Buster (in his frequent role as Billy the Kid), so he and Fuzzy set out to clear their names.  Directed by Sam Newfield, it also stars Maxine Leslie and features seasoned western side men Kermit Maynard (Ken’s brother) as Spence and George Cheesbro as Baxter.  It’s the 1943 horse opera, Fugitive Of The Plains.

UNCLE PETE and Sammy are wandering again in the Dark Vault Crypt and with all its unexplored passages – some that appear to have been excavated from below – this always proves for an interesting stroll.  So tune in this Saturday, January 10, 2015 on channel 4 in Binghamton (channel 17 in Sayre and channel 99 in Elmira/Corning/Hornell) from 10PM to midnight as UNCLE PETE brings you an explosive double feature:  Beast Of Yucca Flats and Fugitive Of The Plains on the next DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!
