THE LAW AND AN ALIEN BOY – JUST LIKE THOSE BIG-TIME HEADLINES (BUT VAULTIER)
Aliens and law enforcement are in the news a lot these days. So UNCLE PETE tries to get to the bottom of it all as he explores the world of alien visitations to spaghetti western movie stars on THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN. Join UNCLE PETE and El Vato this Saturday as they bring you the 1979 family fun invasion flic The Sheriff And The Satellite Kid. When residents of a small Georgia town see a UFO landing and strange occurrences occur, the sheriff (Bud Spenser) begins to believe their stories after picking up what he thinks is a runaway little boy (Cary Guffey of Close Encounters of the Third Kind). Spenser is convinced when the boy, who introduces himself as H725, produces a device that causes a huge fish to jump into the sheriff’s arms and makes a horse speak in English (actually in Italian in the original print). But when the military sets out to capture the alien, Sheriff Hall decides to help him get home. The duo heads to Stone Mountain, but not before several good doses of typical spaghetti western slapstick and brawling. Directed by Michele Lupo it’s The Sheriff and the Satellite Kid.
UNCLE PETE has his telescope set on the stars this week. But when he finally gets himself down to the Vault, he plucks a couple gems from the universe of public domain short subjects. First up is the Terry-toon The Talking Magpies from 1949 – the first feature for Heckle and Jeckle. Then there’s the explosive short Don’t Touch – a safety film about what to do when you find blasting caps and explosives (NO, you don’t put them in your mouth and you sure don’t give them to El Vato). Plus, we’ve remastered the print to bring you even more pixels and stuff!
It’s an outing filled with stargazing, aliens, southerners, explosives and talking mischievous birds this Saturday, June 13, 2015 from 10PM to midnight on channel 4 (Binghamton), channel 17 (Montrose/Sayre, PA), and channel 99 (Elmira/Corning/Hornell) and again at midnight and 2AM on all fronts. Join UNCLE PETE for The Sheriff and the Satellite Kid, the next feature presentation on THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!
