HITTIN’ THE HIGH LAKES FOR A DOUBLE FEATURE!!!
For the last two weeks, we had two beasts. So this week, how ’bout two features! the plains, the high seas, and this week in as UNCLE PETE hits the uncharted weirdness of Lake Dark Vault to bring you action on the plains and terror on the high seas when he sets row in the SS PETE on the next DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN.
Up first, it’s four-legged horsepower with the riproarin’ action packed western The Cheyene Kid. The Kid (Jack Randall), a gamblin’ ne’er-do-well kinda buckaroo, decides it’s time he and sidekick Manny (Frank Yaconelli) become square shootin’ honest cowpokes. He gets a cowhand job and after becoming foreman, gets sent off with $1000 to pick up a few doggies (that’s cattle to all you dudes). But a former ranch hand who wanted to be foreman teams up with the evil saloon owner to frame our hero for stealing and murder too.
There’s a necktie party waiting for our hero unless he and Manny can set things straight. Directed by Bernard B. Ray and also starring Louise Stanley as Ruth and George Chesbro as Davis, from 1940, it’s The Cheyene Kid. (And make sure to catch Manny’s great musical number, Cross-eyed Son Of A Gun).
Next up, it’s Torture Ship. The evil Dr. Herbert Stander (Irving Pichel) has a theory that criminal behavior is a gland problem and can be modified with his treatments. He lures seven hard cases onto a ship claiming he’ll take them to a place safe from the law. But as evil scientists frequently do, he lied. It’s bizarre treatments, fights, terror, and suspense instead. But Lieut. Bob Bennet (Lyle Talbot) might have something to say about this. With Jacqueline Wells as Joan, and Wheeler Oakman as Ritter, from writer Jack London and director Victor Halperin, it’s 1939’s Torture Ship.
And for our fearless host, UNCLE PETE, it’s double danger too!!! The mysterious Lake Dark Vault Monster – Lakie – is on the prowl again. Several lake-goers have already turned up mostly missing (Lakie is a sloppy eater). UNCLE PETE has brought the SS PETE out of dry dock, and the ship (and probably UNCLE PETE) are loaded to the gills for battle!
So join UNCLE PETE, aboard the official DARK VAULT hot rod of the sea, the SS PETE, and maybe catch a rare daylight glimpse of a prehistoric behemoth, this Saturday night, March 11, 2017 from 10PM to midnight on channel 4 (Binghamton), channel 17 (Sayre and nearby areas in PA), channel 30 in the North Country (from Watertown to Champlain and all around there), and channel 99 (Corning/Hornell/Corning and Utica/Rome) with replays at midnight and 2AM. It’s double feature night with The Cheyene Kid and Torture Ship on the next DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!!!
(And for all you Roku users, don’t forget to tune in to The DVOPD on Beta Max TV this weekend for some ground shakin’, big beastie action with Attack Of The Monsters. It happens this Saturday at 7PM!)
