UNCLE PETE READIES FOR ANOTHER TRIP INTO CINEMA WONDERLAND

What’s green and black and white and smoky all over?  Well, this week it’s THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN, UNCLE PETE and El Vato roll out the cult classic scare film and one of our fan favorites – REEFER MADNESS.   Released in 1936 as the anti-pot film Tell Your Children, it stars Carleton Young and Thelma White as Jack and Mae – a couple of evil pot dealers (is there any other kind?).  It also stars one of the DARK VAULT’S favorite actors –  Dave “Tex” O’Brien – as Ralph, a strung out, unbalanced ex-college student (someone we can relate to).  They soon get youths Jimmy (Warren McCollum) and Bill (Kenneth Craig) turned on to some “real good cigarettes”, starting them on a downward slide into the dark, destructive world of cannabis.

Reefer Madness is a big departure in the career of  Dave “Tex” O’Brien who spent much of his long career in East Side Kids movies, Pete Smith Specialties, and westerns (many with Tex Ritter).  Reefer Madness, intended as an educational movie to warn parents about the pitfalls of pot, became a cult movie legend after NORML founder Keith Stroup bought a cheap copy in 1971 and began to circulate it in the college movie circuit.

Meanwhile, back at the Dark Vault, there’s something in the air that has an effect on UNCLE PETE.  Maybe it’s that new incense of El Vato’s – or whatever it is he’s burning.  But whatever it is, UNCLE PETE finds it very relaxing while he brings you a big bag of stuff including a film from the 60’s called Keep Off The Grass and a musical interlude called Radiation Baby Azul stops by to demonstrate a new use for a Vito Gold product and UNCLE PETE tickles the ivories between the assorted refreshment and snack breaks along the way.

UNCLE PETE FINDS SOME SHOWS ARE MORE RELAXING THAN OTHERS

UNCLE PETE DOES A LITTLE SECRET AGENTING

Defeating evil is no small matter.  Or maybe it is for Agent 00, our height-challenged hero in this week’s installment of THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN! Join UNCLE PETE as he presents the 1982 spy spoof The Impossible Kid.  Directed by Eddie Nicart, and starring the Philippines’ 2 foot 9 inch answer to Sean Connery – Weng Weng (nee – Ernesto De La Cruz), the top agent of the Manila branch of Interpol.

After the evil Mr. X has threatened the Philippines,  a group of businessmen have come up with the ransom he demanded, but our hero suspects there’s something rotten in Denmark (or Manilla even!).  A little super spy work turns up a complex secret plan of evil masterminded by the mysterious Mr. X.  This sequel to Weng Weng’s For Your Height Only stars Nina Sara as Lolita, Romy Diaz as Senyor Manolo, Romy Nario as Mr. X and Ben Johnson (no, not the well-known American Western actor and stuntman) as the Chief.

Back at the Vault, UNCLE PETE shows off his Double Naught spy techniques (to the annoyance of El Vato) and brings you a 1974 short from the streets and playgrounds of the exotic eastern city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania entitled Destruction – Fun Or Dumb?  So, join UNCLE PETE and El Vato this Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 10PM to midnight (with a replay at midnight) on channel 1301 in the Binghamton and Corning/Elmita/Hornell area and southern NY and northern Pennsylvania, channel 99 around Utica/Rome, channel 30 in the North Country of NY and channel 2 in Cortland County and around the tri-lakes area (Saranac, Champlain, and Tupper).  And in Ithaca, NY, it’s channel 13 from 9PM – 11PM with a replay from midnight – 2AM.  Spies are poppin’ with UNCLE PETE and The Impossible Kid on the next installment of THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!

And this week in THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN on Beta Max TV, watch the Classic TV Spectacular – Pt III – a western round-up of action on all Roku TVs and streaming devices!

UNCLE PETE AND MAX KEEP HEALTHY IN THE CRYPT

UNCLE PETE AND MAX KEEP HEALTHY IN THE CRYPT

Have you had your shots?  Sometimes the kind in the little glasses are the only way to a DARK VAULT episode.  But this week you might want a little extra alcohol and maybe some raid to try to kill the nasty contagious bug in the THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN as UNCLE PETE presents the 1980 big budget epic Virus.

The special virus branch of the government sends a particularly nasty one on a plane that winds up crashing.  The extremely contagious, very deadly virus, for which there is no cure, is released.  Happens all the time.  What’s one more plane crashing or a virus getting out to end all life on Earth?  But there might be hope )or the movie would be pretty short) = the virus can’t survive in extreme cold (Binghamton and upstate New York are safe!). That means that the eight hundred-some scientists and staff in Antarctica and a submarine crew are still alive.  And now it’s up to them to not get contaminated and to keep the earth going in the midst of a big budget apocalypse.

The most expensive Japanese film made at the time,  the all-star cast includes Chuck Connors, Masao Kusakari, Sonny Chiba, Glenn Ford, Robert Vaughn, Henry Silva, George Kennedy, Edward James Olmos, Bo Svenson, and Olivia Hussey.  It was filmed on location in Antarctica, Alaska, Halifax, Machu Pichu and features 2 real submarines and the real ocean.  It also bombed at the box office.  Which is why we have it here in THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN.  This film not only contains more big name international stars than any of the usual DARK VAULT fare but the single film salary of any one of these stars is bigger than the entire budget of most of the movies we air.  Janis Ian wrote the lyrics for and performed the title theme song.  If that doesn’t make it a terrifying disaster movie, I don’t know what does!  Plus, the version we will be bringing you is one you won’t see anywhere else, exclusive to the DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN! From 1980, it’s Virus.

CHUCK CONNORS TRIES TO CALL THE DARK VAULT THIS WEEK

CHUCK CONNORS TRIES TO CALL THE DARK VAULT THIS WEEK

UNCLE PETE and Max are exploring the Dark Vault Crypt where no virus would dare survive – although Max does have the sniffles.  And even though this is one of the newest, longest, and by far, the biggest budget movies we’ve shown in the DARK VAULT, UNCLE PETE still manages to dig up a couple of disaster flick trailers as well.  So prepare for a dose of disaster this Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 10PM to midnight on channel 1301 around Binghamton, Corning/Elmira/Hornell, Montrose/Sayre, and northern PA and southern NY, channel 99 around Utica/Rome, channel 2 for the tri-lakes area (Saranac, Tupper, Champlain) and for Cortland County and channel 30 for the North Country (Ogdensburg/Massena/Malone/Champlain and Watertown) with a replay at midnight.  And in Ithaca, channel 13 at 9PM and midnight.  Check your local VITO SHACK ™ for a supply of the Vito Gold ™ Universal Anti-Virus Vaccine, and get inoculated (or intoxicated) for the 1980 disaster spectacular Virus, the next feature presentation on the DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!!!

UNCLE PETE RETURNS TO AN ALIEN INVADED DARK VAULT

We’ve got space in The Dark Vault Of Public Domain this week – and it’s not just between El Vato’s ears!  Join UNCLE PETE as he brings you that flying fighter from the Emerald Planet, the Man Of Strongest Steel – Starman in the 1965 Sci-Fi thriller – Attack From Space.  Crack scientist Dr. Yamanaka has been kidnapped by the Sappherions and they’re forcing him to use his new spaceship in an attempt to conquer Earth.  The people of the Emerald Planet know that ain’t no good, so they send Starman (Ken Utsui) to defend the Earth.  Originally shown as two episodes of the Starman series and also starring Minoru Takada, Chisako Hara, and Minako Yamada, it’s Attack From Space.

THE HIGH COUNCIL OF THE EMERALD PLANET

Alien evil has found its way into the bowels of The Dark Vault as well.  UNCLE PETE, just back from vacation, finds the Vault emptied except for rat buddy Dino, Milton the Tiki Mask, and Stone Dog.  With faithful Stone Dog’s help, he tracks down the problem – an invasion by alien troublemakers UNCLE PETE has met before – the Radonians.  They’ve even disrupted our hi-priced color camera so we’re in black and white this week!  UNCLE PETE and Stone Dog team up to vaporize some alien butt, but battling aliens doesn’t stop UNCLE PETE from digging up some great music videos from the 50’s Highteens, Telepathys, Hikeshu, and Rockin’ Enocky as well as some groovy trailers.

UNCLE PETE AND STONE DOG DISCOVER PROOF OF ALIEN NASTINESS

So tune in for Attack From Space and the battle for humanity (or at least UNCLE PETE’S place) this Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 10PM to midnight on channel 1301 for Binghamton’s viewing area eastward, westward past Corning/Hornell/Elmira and for all of northern Pennsylvania, on Utica/Rome’s channel 99, the North Country’s channel 30, and channel 2 for the tri-lakes area (Tupper, Saranac, Champlain) and Cortland County.  Don’t forget, we have an encore showing at midnight.  And in Ithaca, NY it’s channel 13 at 9PM and midnight.  It’s aliens on TV and aliens in the house on the next DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!

(And this week on Beta Max TV (www.betamaxtv.com) on all Roku TVs and Devices, it’s the 1976 car crashin’, car chasin’ spectacular – Double Nickels!)

UNCLE PETE ENJOYS SOME MOONERIFIC REFRESHMENTS

According to our Book Of Stuff Nobody Knows, the day between the Ides Of March and St. Patrick’s Day is Moon Beast Day.  So, we here in the DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN, never missing a chance to celebrate something (or pretty much anything), are ready, willing, and able to moon-up today!  Take a walk in the moonlight with  UNCLE PETE and EL VATO Saturday night for the 1976 feature – Track Of The Moon Beast.  Paul G. Carlson (Chase Cordell) is a rock hound who gets bonked by a hunk of alien meteorite and begins to feel light-headed (or maybe it’s moonlight-headed).  And instead of becoming just dizzy, he becomes a murderous mutated monster, attacking several of the locals, including one poor soul coming home from bowling.  Law enforcement becomes suspicious when it appears no known animal could have made those marks (except for maybe some of the guests at a DARK VAULT all-night shindig).  The only clues are a collection of ancient American Indian paintings.  Also starring Leigh Drake, directed by Richard Ashe, and co-written by Bill Finger whose writing credits include episodes of the Batman TV series, 77 Sunset Strip and The Green Slime, it’s Track Of The Moon Beast!

UNCLE PETE and Max are working on their moon tan while enjoying the beautiful moonlit night and several moon related refreshments.  Pull up a moon rock, break out a fresh jug of moonshine and bake up a moon pie (take one can of moon filling, poor into a frozen 9″ pie crust, cover with the second crust and bake for 35 minutes at 1200 degrees) and join UNCLE PETE Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 10PM to midnight on channel 1301 around Binghamton, Elmira/Corning/Hornell and Montrose/Sayre and northern PA.  For the Utica/Rome area, it’s channel 99 and channel 30 all over the north country (Ogdensburg/Watertown/Malone/Massena/Champlain).  Channel 2 is the place for the tri-lakes area (Saranac, Tupper, and Champlain) and also for the Cortland County area.  Don’t forget the replay at midnight.  And for Ithaca, NY it’s channel 13 at 9PM and midnight.   Track Of The Moon Beast on the next DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!!!

(And for all you Roku users, tune in to Beta Max TV (www.betamaxtv.com) this week for a trip on The Dark Vault Of Public Domain’s  presentation of Night Train To Terror!  Available on all Roku devices and Roku equipped TVs!)

HAVING TROUBLE GETTING THE DARK VAULT ON YOUR TV?

•March 9, 2019 • Leave a Comment

It’s come to my attention this week that some folks have not been getting the Dark Vault broadcasts for the past several weeks.  I recently heard from a Charter/Spectrum customer service representative that some people in the Elmira area have not seen the show in weeks.  It should be available at 10pm and midnight on channel 1301 in that area.

After our conversation, they assured me that they would check on this situation this weekend and try to address whatever problem is occurring.  We’ll see how that works out.

If you are not seeing The Dark Vault on your TV and you are in an area that we broadcast to (see the posts for channels and areas), please let us know.  You can contact us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/UnclePeteOfficial/ or at UNCLE PETE’s e-mail at unclepeteshow @gmail.com (without that space between the w and the @).  Now that I actually know a live customer service rep who can address this type of problem, I can let them know directly or put you in contact with them or both.

Also, if you know someone in an area that is not currently receiving The Dark Vault on Spectrum cable and would like to, let us know (at the same contact places listed above).  We can be in your area too by setting up a sponsor (and that’s reeealy easy).  Let’s get The Dark Vault everywhere!!!!

Thanks for watching!!!

UNCLE PETE HAS AN UNEXPECTED VISITOR

UNCLE PETE HAS AN UNEXPECTED VISITOR

How about a little exercise with THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN this Saturday?  Maybe a bit of a walk or a little horse riding.  Maybe even wrestling with a hideous ape-creature or dodging a flurry of six-gun bullets.  You get a chance to do all that this week when you join UNCLE PETE for a double feature of The Monster Walks and Broadway To Cheyenne.  In The Monster Walks, Ruth (Vera Reynolds) learns her scientist father has died under mysterious circumstances.  Heading to his spooky mansion with fiance Dr. Ted Clayton (Rex Lease), she discovers her Uncle Robert, and a housekeeper and her odd son Harris Crug (Mischa Auer) living there.  And then there’s the ape-type thing in the basement left over from Dad’s experiments.  Ruth inherited everything, but old Uncle Robert gets it if Ruth ceases to exist.  A hairy monster hand trying to kill Ruth really gets things going.  But is it the primitive primate or is there another monster afoot?  From 1932 and also starring one of the busiest and most credited side-character actors ever, Willie “Sleep n’ Eat” Best, it’s The Monster Walks.

In Broadway to Cheyenne, NYC policeman “Breezy” Kildare (Rex Bell) is shot during a confrontation with bad guy Butch Owens (Robert Ellis).  He heads west to recuperate on his father’s ranch in Wyoming and finds the dirty rats from New York hiding out nearby running a protection racket on the local ranchers.  It’s up to Breezy to show the thugs some western justice.  Also starring Marceline Day and legendary sidekick Gabby Hayes (as Walrus), likewise from 1932, it’s Broadway To Cheyenne.

Back at the Dark Vault, UNCLE PETE is settled down in front of the cathode viewing device and bring accosted by a mysterious hand.  Of course, a little snort or two of a bar-b-cue cocktail helps as he digs up a Three Stooges commercial too.  So tune in this Saturday, March 9, 2019, from 10PM to midnight (with a replay at midnight) on channel 1301 in the Binghamton area, Sayre/Montrose and northern PA, and the Elmira/Corning/Hornell area, channel 99 around Utica/Rome, channel 2 in the Saranac/Champlain/Tupper Lakes areas and in Cortland County, and channel 30 in the North Country (Champlain/Watertown/Ogdensburg/Massena/Malone).  Don’t forget in the Ithaca, NY area, we’re on channel 13 at 9PM and midnight.  An action-packed double feature spectacular with The Monster Walks and Broadway To Cheyenne on the next DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!!!

(And for all you Beta Max TV viewers (on your Roku TVs and devices), this week you’ll see the Flash Gordon, shorts, music, trailers and more in The DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN – Best Of The Webisodes – Vol 2 www,betamaxtv.com)
