EL VATO DELIVERS A DOUBLE DOSE OF CINEMA TO UNCLE PETE

EL VATO DELIVERS A DOUBLE DOSE OF CINEMA TO UNCLE PETE

Break out your sandals and your anti-surveillance devices for a trip to the monster infested past and the oppressive totalitarian future this week in THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN.  Join UNCLE PETE for a movie double-header featuring the sword and sandal epic Hercules And The Princess OF Troy and a tale of the future gone awry, 1984 (well, at least it was the future when the story was written).

In the first feature, the people of Troy must make a monthly delivery of one maiden to a nasty sea monster that will otherwise destroy the city in lieu of payment.  Some citizens decide to relocate, only to be captured by pirates.  Hercules (Gordon Scott) feels this whole situation could use a little improvin’ so he steps in to help out.  Also starring Gordon Mitchell (from Little Rita  and Atlas In The Land Of the Cyclops as seen on The DVOPD), Roger Browne (from War Of The Robots), and Diana Hyland, it’s Enzo Barboni’s 1965 epic Hercules And The Princess Of Troy.  The second feature is a television adaptation of George Orwell’s story of a futuristic society that practices mind control, constant widespread surveillance, and oversees all aspects of all citizens daily life – 1984.  A production of the Westinghouse Studio One program in 1953, it features an all-star cast including Eddie Albert, Lorne Greene, and Robert Culp.

While UNCLE PETE sorts things out in front of the Dark Vault View Screen, he manages to dig up a clothing ad featuring Moe, Larry, and Curly Joe and a trailer for a big screen version of 1984 (from 1984).  Plus, we hope you have good toes in your sandals cuz we’re all gonna Tip-toe Through The Tulips during a musical interlude from the one and only ukulele playin’ Tiny Tim.

So fire up those TVs and join UNCLE PETE and the DARK VAULT gang this Saturday night, June 2, 2018, from 10PM to midnight (with replays at midnight and 2AM) on channel 1301 in Binghamton, Sayre/Montrose, and Hornell/Elmira/Corning, channel 30 all over the North Country of New York, channel 99 in Utica/Rome, and channel 2 for Plattsburgh, Saranac and Tupper Lakes.  And in Ithaca, it’s channel 13 from 9PM – 11PM and midnight – 2AM  It’s a double feature spanning eons with Hercules and The Princess OF Troy and 1984 this week on THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!!!

UNCLE PETE ABSORBS SOME CLASSIC CATHODE RAYS

UNCLE PETE ABSORBS SOME CLASSIC CATHODE RAYS

Put that flat TV behind your fish tank, get a good old curvy one and join UNCLE PETE in THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN this week as he brings you the CLASSIC TELEVISION SPECTACULAR (Part I).  It’s down to the Dark Vault Den as we open up the Dark Vault Classic Television Archives.

First up is Clutch Cargo from 1962 featuring the special Synchrovox process which combined animation and live action speaking parts.  Clutch, his sidekick Spinner and that pugnacious pooch Paddlefoot meet up with Mister Abominable.  More action follows  from 1967 with episode 1 of Johnny Socko and His Flying Robot.  Johnny, his pal and his giant robot defend the earth against all sorts of evil and assorted giant beasties.

Next, turn off the lights and prepare for suspenseful spookiness with an episode of The Veil  hosted by Boris Karloff.  Then it’s Destination: Outer Space and a return to the Synchrovox process with Space Angel.  In this episode from 1962 – The Ghost and Crystal Mace (yes, Mace, not that other stuff you were thinking of) –  Space Angel and his crew encounter a planet inhabited by some very upset and mischievous ghosts.

Finally, it’s back to earth where evil is afoot once again in The Adventures Of Dr. Fu Manchu, one of the first syndicated television programs.  This episode finds the evil doctor kidnapping a famous plastic surgeon to do some work on an evil-doer who has been in hiding since the fall of  his former stomping grounds – Nazi Germany.  Naztiness abounds in this episode entitled The Master Plan Of Dr. Fu Manchu.

Back at the Dark Vault Den, UNCLE PETE  tries to get his robot buddy to demonstrate the process of Luffing (and we’re still not sure what Luffing is), and grows an instant Fu Manchu moustache.  Plus, there’s a cameo appearance by our friend, Mr. Yuk, the guy who replaced the old Skull and Crossbones as the symbol of poison  (whatever happened to Mr. Yuk anyway?).

So whether you have a black and white set or one of those new color console sets, 2D, 3D, or 4D, smellavision or not, make sure it’s good and warmed up this Saturday night May 26, 2018 from 10PM to midnight (with replays at midnight and 2AM) on channel 1301 in Binghamton, Elmira/Corning/Hornell and northern PA, channel 99 in Utica/Rome, channel 30 in the North Country, and channel 2 in Plattsburgh and Champlain and Tupper Lakes.  And in Ithaca, it’s channel 13 at 9PM and again at midnight.  It’s a walk down Television Memory Lane with UNCLE PETE and the Classic Television Spectacular on the next DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!

UNCLE PETE JAMS WITH ARCH HALL JR. THIS WEEK

UNCLE PETE JAMS WITH ARCH HALL JR. THIS WEEK

It’s Rock, Roll, and Action this week as we bring out a way out, wild classic this week on THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!  It’s the 1962 Ray Dennis Steckler gem – Wild Guitar.  Arch Hall Jr. stars as Bud Eagle, an aspiring singer/song writer who has hopped on his motorcycle and headed to Holllllllywood (gotta put 6 or 7 L’s in there cuz everything’s big out there).  He meets aspiring dancer Vickie (Nancy Czar) at a diner (where else), and she’s decides to help get him on the right track to stardom.  After he wow’s ’em on a variety show, agent Mike McCauley (Arch Hall, Sr.) takes Bud under his wing and zooms him into the stratosphere in like no time, Jack!!!  But McCauley is a no-good, shifty, unscrupulous agent (a rarity in Hollywood) and Bud tries to break ties with the agent, although henchman Steak (Ray Dennis Steckler, billed as Cash Flagg) might have something to say about that.  To complicate matters even some more yet, three barely ept thugs from the diner decide to kidnap Bud.  There’s intrigue, romance, comedy, a little ice skating, and a whole bunch of rockin’.  From 1962, it’s Wild Guitar.

But, there’s more!  UNCLE PETE, back in THE DARK VAULT CONTROL ROOM, presents a 1937, Duane Esper directed bit of educational film called How To Undress, an early exploitation short that was far more risqué then than it turns out to be now.  There are also trailers galore!  And besides causing some destruction, UNCLE PETE breaks out the wild ukulele for a couple musical interludes.  So tune in this Saturday night, May 12, 2018 from 10PM to midnight (with replays at midnight and 2AM) on channel 1301 in Binghamton, Sayre/Montrose, and Corning/Hornell/Elmira and in Utica/Rome on channel 99 and all over the north country (Watertown/Malone/Massena/Ogdensburg/Champlain) on channel 30.  And viewers in the Tupper and Saranac Lake areas can watch us on channel 2!!!  It’ll be an action packed rockin’ good time with Wild Guitar, the next feature presentation on THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!!!

UNCLE PETE READIES FOR ANOTHER TRIP INTO CINEMA WONDERLAND

With “green” oriented things like 4/20 and Earth Day flanking this week’s episode of THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN, UNCLE PETE and El Vato roll out the green carpet this Saturday night with a bona fide cult classic scare film and one of our fan favorites – REEFER MADNESS.  An anti-marijuana educational film released in 1936 as Tell Your Children, it stars Carleton Young and Thelma White as Jack and Mae – a couple of scurvy pot dealers.  It also stars one of the DARK VAULT’S favorite actors –  Dave “Tex” O’Brien – as Ralph, a strung out, unbalanced ex-college student (someone we can relate to).  They soon get youths Jimmy (Warren McCollum) and Bill (Kenneth Craig) turned on to some “real good cigarettes”, starting them on a downward slide into the dark, destructive world of cannabis.

Reefer Madness is a big departure in the career of Dark Vault favorite Dave “Tex” O’Brien who spent much of his long career in East Side Kids movies, Pete Smith Specialties, and westerns (many with Tex Ritter).  Reefer Madness, intended as an educational movie to warn parents about the pitfalls of pot, became a cult movie legend after NORML founder Keith Stroup bought a cheap copy in 1971 and began to circulate it in the college movie circuit.

Meanwhile, back at the Dark Vault, El Vato’s incense (or something) has an effect on UNCLE PETE.  But while UNCLE PETE relaxes in the den, he brings you an assortment of stuff including a film from the 60’s called Keep Off The Grass and a musical interlude called Radiation Baby Azul stops by to demonstrate a new use for a Vito Gold product and UNCLE PETE tickles the ivories between assorted refreshments and snack breaks along the way.

UNCLE PETE FINDS SOME SHOWS ARE MORE RELAXING THAN OTHERS

So grab lots of munchies and turn on (your TV set) and tune in this Saturday night,  April 21, 2018 from 10PM to midnight on channel 1301 for Binghamton and all of southern NY and northern PA,  channel 99 (Utica/Rome), channel 30 in the North Country (Ogdensburg/Watertown/Massena/Malone/Champlain) and channel 2 for the Plattsburgh and Tupper and Saranac Lake areas,  with replays at midnight and 2 AM.  And for Ithaca, NY, it’s channel 13 at 9PM and midnight.  Murder, debauchery, and some jazzed up piano playing as UNCLE PETE goes green this Saturday with the 1936 cult classic Reefer Madness, our feature presentation on the next DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN.

(And on Beta Max TV on the Roku System, take a trip to a the frozen north and the steamy jungle with The Fatal Glass Of Beer and Africa Screams available starting this Friday!)
