OXNARD LISTENS INTENTLY AS UNCLE PETE READS VIEWER MAIL THIS WEEK

Warn weather, summer around the corner  a perfect time to hop in a nice car and take it for a spin.  Maybe even if it’s not your car!  At least that’s what the folks in this week’s installment of THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN are up to.  And with a whole lotta crashes too as OXNARD and UNCLE PETE take you on a two-hour car chase with the 1977 auto-action thriller Double Nickels.

(Scheduling note – some of you may have seen this show 2 months ago but because of a mix-up at the control center, others saw Swamp Of The Lost Monster. So this week, Double Nickels will air on all our outlets as planned including our brand new Rochester and Syracuse venues!)

UNCLE PETE GETS THE FEATURE FROM HIS TRUNK

UNCLE PETE GETS THE FEATURE FROM HIS TRUNK

To pick up a little cash on the side, two buddies from the California Highway Police decide to get involved with a some repo work.  But things start to seem a little suspicious and get them wondering if it it really is repo work.  It stars stunt man Jack Vacek as Smokey, George Cole as George, Ed Abrams as Ed and Heidi Schubert as Tami.  Jack also produced, directed, and setup the car stunts.  And look for the real Ma and Pa Vacek as Mercedes owners in the movie.  UNCLE PETE also has a short, strange, and very mod film starring Laugh-In’s Judy Carne and Arte Johnson called Freeze In all about the Sears Coldspot Time Bank freezers.

OXNARD HEADS FOR A COOL BEVERAGE

OXNARD HEADS FOR A COOL BEVERAGE

Meanwhile, UNCLE PETE and OXNARD are wandering through various locations in the general proximity of The Dark Vault. And with the repo theme in the feature, be sure to look for UNCLE PETE’s not so subtle tips of the hat to the classic (but non-public domain) movie Repo Man with a rare bit of melodic vocalizin’ too.  So join us in Rochester, NY and western Monroe County on Friday, August 2, on channel 1301 at 10pm and midnight.  Everywhere else, it’s this Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 10PM to midnight on channel 1301 in Binghamton, northern Pennsylvania, and the Elmira/Corning/Hornell area and channel 99 in Utica/Rome, channel 2 for Saranac, Champlain, and Tupper Lakes and Plattsburgh and all of Cortland County, and of course channel 30 for The North Country, with a replay at midnight.  In Syracuse, tune to channel 98 Saturday from 11pm – 1am with a replay Thursday from 10pm – midnight.  And in Ithaca, NY, tune to channel 13, Saturday at 9pm and midnight.  Double Nickels, the next feature presentation on THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!

UNCLE PETE JAMS WITH ARCH HALL JR. THIS WEEK

UNCLE PETE JAMS WITH ARCH HALL JR. THIS WEEK

It’s a way out, wild classic this week on THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN as UNCLE PETE  tunes up for the 1962 Ray Dennis Steckler gem – Wild Guitar.  Arch Hall Jr. as Bud Eagle, hops on his motorcycle, heads to Hollywood and starts working on being a musical sensation.  Stopping by a diner, he meets aspiring dancer Vickie (Nancy Czar) who decides to help get him on the right track to stardom.  After he wow’s ’em on a variety show, agent Mike McCauley (Arch Hall, Sr.) takes Bud under his wing and zooms him into the stratosphere in like no time, Jack!!!  But McCauley is a no-good, shifty, unscrupulous agent (a rarity in Hollywood) and Bud tries to break ties with the agent. But toughguy henchman Steak (Ray Dennis Steckler, billed as Cash Flagg) might have something to say about that.  To complicate matters even some more yet, three barely ept thugs from the diner decide to kidnap Bud.  There’s intrigue, romance, comedy, a little ice skating, and a whole bunch of rockin’.  From 1962, it’s Wild Guitar.

UNCLE PETE, back in THE DARK VAULT CONTROL ROOM, presents a 1937, Duane Esper directed bit of educational film called How To Undress, an early exploitation short that was far more risqué then than it turns out to be now.  There are also trailers galore!  And besides causing some destruction, UNCLE PETE breaks out the wild ukulele for a couple musical interludes.  So tune in this Saturday night, July 27, 2019 from 10PM to midnight (with a replay at midnight) on channel 1301 in Binghamton, Sayre/Montrose, and Corning/Hornell/Elmira, channel 99 in Utica/Rome, all over the north country (Watertown/Malone/Massena/Ogdensburg/etc) on channel 30, and channel 2 in Cortland County and the yti=lakes area (Tupper/Saranac/Champlain).  In Ithaca, NY it’s channel 13 at 9pm and midnight.  In Syracuse it’s channel 98 Saturday from 11pm – 1am and Thursday from 10pm – midnight.  And brand new this week, it’s channel 1301 in the Rochester/western Monroe County area on Friday at 10pm and midnight!!!  It’ll be an action packed rockin’ good time with Wild Guitar, the next feature presentation on THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!!!

(On Beta Max TV on all Roku devices and TVs this week, it’s the first post-apocalyptic punk rock movie ever made in mainland China – DRAGON CITY!!!)

UNCLE PETE AND HIS DESIGNATED RAT ROD DRIVER ON A ROAD TRIP IN THE NEXT DVOPD

It’s Syracuse Nationals Weekend!  UNCLE PETE and The Dark Vault Hot Rod are on the road, rat rods abound and Syracuse is involved – on AND off the screen this week!!!  Tune in Saturday night as the Mobile Dark Vault hits the road and UNCLE PETE and his designated driver rat Max present Hot Rod Girl  on THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!  Street racing is runnin’ wild, so Detective Ben Merrill (Chuck Connors), some of the cooler local rodders and mechanic Jeff Northrup (John Smith) set up a drag strip for hot rodders to hot rod at in their hot rods (at least when they wreck, it won’t be on somebody’s front lawn).  Lisa Vernon (Lori Nelson) – Jeff’s girl – is tearin’ up the pavement at the strip in her T-Bird, but Jeff’s younger brother splatters on the pavement in a street race (on somebody’s front lawn), so Jeff quits the scene for good.  An out-of-town tough by the name of Bronc shows up in his high-powered mill and starts bugging Lisa.   Jeff gets sucked into a street race, a kid on a bike gets croaked and the evidence points to Jeff.  It’s up to Lisa, Detective Ben, and the gang to help Jeff straighten out this mess and give Bronc a straightening out too.

The flic also features Frank Gorshen as Flat Top, Eddie Ryder as Two Tanks, and Dabbs Greer as service station owner Henry Frye. The swinging soundtrack was composed and conducted by Alexander Courage (who went to the same school as UNCLE PETE and later did the Star Trek  music).  One of the few hot rod movies you’ll find with an oboe player listed in the credits (Gordon Schoneberg), from 1956, it’s Hot Rod Girl. (Check out some of the famous band members in the credits including a new trumpet player by the name of Maynard Ferguson.)

UNCLE PETE and Max and Stone Dog are cruising in Mobile Vault One on a road trip up to Lake Dark Vault. While UNCLE PETE runs into (and over) a plethora of interesting characters on the way, he also finds time to bring you music (Jody Miller singing Things), a spot about the brand new 1956 Ford Thunderbird, a James Dean safe driving public service announcement, and a Chevrolet sponsored short starring Gail Storm entitled How To Go Places .

AND – it’s THE DARK VAULT debut week in SYRACUSE, NY (AND all of Onondaga County)!!!  Tune in on channel 98, Saturday night from 11pm – 1am with a replay Thursday night from 10pm – midnight,  For everyone else, tune in to Hot Rod Girl, also this Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 10PM to midnight on channel 1301 in Binghamton, southern NY, northern PA and Elmira/Corning/Hornell, channel 99 in Utica/Rome, channel 30 in the North Country of upstate New York), channel 2 for Champlain, Saranac and Tupper Lakes, and Cortland County with replays at midnight. And it’s channel 13 in Ithaca at 0PM and Midnight. So join UNCLE PETE (and bring your oboe) for the next DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!

(And on Beta Max TV this week for all you Roku TV and Roku device users, it’s THE BEAST OF YUCCA FLATS/FUGUTIVE FROM THE PLAINS double feature week!  http://www.betamaxtv.com)

UNCLE PETE DOES AN UN-BUILD OF THE DARK VAULT HOT ROD

UNCLE PETE DOES SOME INVESTIGATIN’ AND RESTORATIN’ ON THE DARK VAULT HOT ROD

July.  Summer.  Cruisin’ weather!!! So UNCLE PETE is getting the Dark Vault Hot Rod ready for a ride and getting a ride ready for you televisions!  Tune into The Dark Vault Of Public Domain Saturday night for the 1960 counterculture hot rod film – The Wild Ride.  It stars Georgianna Carter, Robert Bean, and Carol Bigby.  And a guy named Jack Nicholson as a hard-nosed anti-society dirt track racer who loves partying and rebelling and being number one – no matter what the cost to others. There’s drinkin’, fightin’, playin’ chicken (it’s time for a chickie run!!!) and all sorts of mayhem in director Harvey Berman’ s The Wild Ride.

Meanwhile, UNCLE PETE is hard at work in the Dark Vault Garage tuning up The Dark Vault Hot Rod to try to figure out where that weird noise in the engine is coming from . Along the way he finds time to bring you the 1954 Popeye car-toon Taxi Turvy and our favorite cartoon cutie – Betty Boop – hoppin’ in her race car (with a cold) in Ker Choo. Plus, we’ve got some good advice for all you JD Hot Rodders out there in Road Runners.

CHICKEN SOUP AND CARBURETORS DON’T MIX

The Dark Vault Hot Rod has been tearin’ up the pavement this summer and with a little tweakin’, she’ll be rumblin’ by the end of the show and ready for the Syracuse Nationals.  But in the meantime, join UNCLE PETE and the DVHR this Saturday night, July 14, 2019 from 10PM to midnight (and again at midnight) on channel 1301 for Binghamton, northern PA, and the Corning/Elmira/Hornell areas, channel 99 for the Utica/Rome area, channel 30 for the North Country and channel 2 for the tri-lakes area (Tupper, Champlain, and Saranac) and Cortland County.  And channel 13 is the place to be for the Ithaca, NY area at 9PM and midnight.  It’s the The Wild Ride, the next feature presentation on THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!

UNCLE PETE DISHES UP SOME SPAGHETTI AND UFOs THIS WEEK!!!

•July 6, 2019 • Leave a Comment

UNCLE PETE DOES A LITTLE STAR GAZING

The weather has been so nice it might be a good time to go to an amusement park.  But Don’t forget to bring an alien.  And maybe a sheriff from an Italian western too!  UNCLE PETE and El Vato mix it all up together as he explores the world of alien visitations to spaghetti western movie stars on THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN this Saturday as they bring you the 1979 family fun invasion flic The Sheriff And The Satellite Kid.   Residents of a small Georgia town experience strange occurrences after seeing a UFO.  The local sheriff (Bud Spenser) thinks they’re nuts but believes their stories after picking up who he thinks is a runaway little boy (Cary Guffey of  Close Encounters of the Third Kind).  The boy, H725 by name, produces an alien device that causes a huge fish to jump into the sheriff’s arms and makes a horse speak in English (actually in Italian in the original print).  Of course the military sets out to capture the alien but Sheriff Hall decides to help him get home.  The duo heads to Stone Mountain, but not before several good doses of typical spaghetti western slapstick and brawling.   Directed by Michele Lupo it’s The Sheriff and the Satellite Kid.

EL VATO AWAITS UNCLE PETE’S BELATED ARRIVAL IN THE DARK VAULT

UNCLE PETE is star-gazing in the night air and when he heads down to the Vault, he plucks a couple gems from the universe of public domain short subjects.  First up is the Terry-toon The Talking Magpies from 1949 – the first feature for Heckle and Jeckle.  Then there’s the explosive short Don’t Touch – a safety film about what to do when you find blasting caps and explosives (NO, you don’t put them in your mouth and you sure don’t give them to El Vato…or maybe you do!).

It’s hot summer night filled with stargazing, aliens, southerners, explosives and talking mischievous birds this Saturday, July 6, 2019 from 10PM to midnight on channel 1301 for the Binghamton, Montrose/Sayre, PA, and Elmira/Corning/Hornell areas, channel 99 around Utica/Rome, channel 30 in the North Country, channel 2 for the tri-lakes area (Champlain, Tupper and Saranac Lakes) and Cortland County and again at midnight on all fronts.  And in the Ithaca area from 9-11PM and again from midnight – 2AM! So, join UNCLE PETE for The Sheriff and the Satellite Kid, the next feature presentation on THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!
