UNCLE PETE MIXES UP SOME TASTY TREATS IN THE DARK VAULT DISTILLERY

UNCLE PETE MIXES UP SOME TASTY TREATS IN THE DARK VAULT DISTILLERY

Just like Granny taught us, Spring is the time for mixing up a little tonic.  So this week, UNCLE PETE will host a 6 hour live broadcast featuring actual production of Spring tonic, never seen footage from the next Star Wars movie, a phone-in Q&A, and huge prizes every hour!!!  OK, actually – APRIL FOOL!!!  But for actual truth, this week it’s a little concoctin’ and bunch of crime in THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN.   Join UNCLE PETE for the 1973 crimedy spectacular Mean Frank and Crazy Tony. It stars DARK VAULT fave Lee VanCleef (as mob boss Mean Frank) and Tony LoBianco as Crazy Tony – a mob boss fanatic from Hoboken who idolizes Mean Frank.  Frank gets himself in prison as an alibi for a crime he’s tied up with, but Tony decides that he’s gonna spring his ideal no matter what anybody says or does to try to stop him.  The film also stars Edwige French and Romano Pupo (Vitobot’s favorite actor name from Little Rita Of The West).  Sometimes called an unofficial crime remake of My Name Is Nobody, from director Michele Lupo (Sheriff and the Satellite Kid), it’s Mean Frank and Crazy Tony.

A SELF-PROPELLED JUG

A SELF-PROPELLED JUG

UNCLE PETE  is hard at work in THE DARK VAULT DISTILLERY developing a new flavor of schnapps (or something like that).  Having  tested and eliminated chlorine and motor oil flavors, UNCLE PETE still has a whole bunch of additives yet to try (and you can be sure there’s some bar-b-que sauce nearby).  To keep in the theme of things, UNCLE PETE also has a cartoon treat from 1947 – Little Brown Jug– a sing-a-long you can all join in on.

It’s an action packed, flavor filled night  this Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 10PM to midnight on channel 4 (Binghamton), channel 17 (Sayre/Montrose), and channel 99 (Corning/Elmira/Hornell and Utica/Rome) and channel 30 in the North Country (Ogdensburg/Watertown/Malone/Massena/Champlain/etc.) with replays at midnight and 2AM. So be sure to join UNCLE PETE for Mean Frank and Crazy Tony, the next feature presentation on THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!  No foolin’!!!

(Plus, this week over at Beta Max TV on the Roku system, it’s a veritable borgasmord, er, smorgasbord of video gems on The Best Of The Webisodes, Vol. 1 at 7PM this Saturday.)

UNCLE PETE WATCHES THE RESULTS OF HIS LASTEST EXPERIMENT

UNCLE PETE WATCHES THE RESULTS OF HIS LATEST EXPERIMENT

Forget those red-breasted bird things – they don’t make the winter cold go away.  But our first sign of Spring brings the heat with him!   Join UNCLE PETE in THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN for the 1965 big screen debut of our favorite giant turtle in Gammera The Invincible (a.k.a. – Daikaiju Gammera).

GAMERA HAS SOME FUN IN THE WATER

GAMMERA HAS SOME FUN IN THE WATER

Normally a pretty sound sleeper, our hero, awakened by a bomb blast, gets up a little cranky and takes a walk through some of Tokyo’s hot spots (at least they are after he gets through with them).  Gammera The Invincible is the only film in the original crop of Gammera movies that was released in American theaters – and the only one entirely in living black and white!  Re-edited and longer than the original Japanese release, the U.S. version added several scenes and American actors (including Brian Donlevy and Albert Dekker) to the original line-up starring Eiji Funakoshi and Harumi Kintachi.  Directed by Noriaki Yuasa.  From 1965, it’s Gammera The Invincible.

THE DARK VAULT EMERGENCY ROBOT GETS A LITTLE OUT OF HAND THIS WEEK

THE DARK VAULT EMERGENCY ROBOT GETS A LITTLE OUT OF HAND THIS WEEK

Back in The Dark Vault Laboratory, UNCLE PETE is mixing up some stuff.  No, not Spring tonic, but a secret size enhancement formula for an unnamed commercial concern.  The enlarging fluid does more than expected as it turns a robot into a rampaging, stomping, flying, giant pain in the neck and UNCLE PETE sends El Vato out to clean things up.  Business as usual in The Dark Vault.  But UNCLE PETE finds time between robot attacks to bring you some music, including a video by the Plastics, and a cartoon about a meanie up north called  The Snowman that just might actually document an event that may or may not have happened during last week’s snow storm.  And it all takes place this Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 10PM to midnight on channel 4 (Binghamton), channel 17 (Montrose/Sayre, PA), channel 30 in the North Country (Watertown/Ogdensburg/Malone/Massena/Champlain), and channel 99 (Elmira/Corning/Hornell and Utica/Rome) with replays at midnight and 2AM.  Stomp into the first Saturday of Spring with UNCLE PETE, EL Vato, a rampaging robot and Gammera The Invincible on the next DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!!!

(And this week on Beta Max TV on the Roku system it’s rubber burning, rock and rollin’, high-speed action with Hot Rod Girl this Saturday at 7PM.)

UNCLE PETE IN THE DEN - 2cake

If you happen to be in one of the unusual places or dark recesses that UNCLE PETE passes through this Thursday (March 23), be sure to wish him a Happy Birthday and a hep-dee-doodley-dee!!!  He’ll probably be hanging out with Frankie and Drac and The Cool Ghoul and a few other denizens of the dark.  We’re not sure which birthday this is, but by best figgerin’, we make it to be somewhere around the 293rd (going by some of the photos and scrolls we’ve found down in the crypt).  We may have to cut him in half and count the rings.  So Happy Birthday UNCLE PETE!!!

SNOW AND A GORILLA THIS WEEK IN THE DARK VAULT (BRAND NEW EPISODE)!!!

UNCLE PETE BRAVES THE ELEMENTS THIS WEEK!

This past week, we here in THE DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN got so much snow (a new record in fact!) that it darn near buried us up to our fez tassels!  So, since many folks haven’t been able to get out and about very easily this week, we decided to present a tour of some exotic locales this week.  Join UNCLE PETE this Saturday as he takes you from the frozen north to the steamy jungle and throws in some extras like a gorilla and beer.  We start our odyssey in the frozen Yukon with The Fatal Glass Of Beer.  Written by and starring genius W.C. Fields (as Mr. Snavely) it chronicles – with song and flashback –  the sad story of son Chester Snavely (George Chandler) who left his rural, snowbound home for the big city where he succumbs to the evils of hard drink and runs afoul of the law.  Filled with intentionally overly dramatic acting, a legendary gloved zither performance, and non-stop gags – especially involving the words “not a fit night out for man or beast” – it’s The Fatal Glass Of Beer (released this month in 1933)!

Next, to warm up our frozen viewers, it’s off to deepest, darkest Africa for our feature from 1949, Abbott and Costello in Africa Screams!  When Buzz Johnson (Bud Abbott) overhears Diana Emerson (played by gorgeous Hillary Brooke) say she will pay big bucks for a lost map created by a legendary African explorer, he decides to pass off his friend Stanley Livington (Lou Costello) as an explorer who accompanied the creator of the map.  But once in Africa, Buzz discovers that the real goal of the expedition is to find a fortune in diamonds.  Buzz and Stanley stumble onto the diamonds and a village of hungry cannibals along the way and Stanley also rescues a gorilla who becomes fast friends with Stanley after that.  This film has a very famous – in a non-film way – cast including champion professional boxers Max and Buddy Baer and two guys who were no strangers to Africa or wild beasties – hunter/collector Frank Buck and legendary animal trainer Clyde Beatty.  There are also a couple other comedy legends found here, namely two of the Three Stooges – Shemp Howard and Joe Besser – in their only appearance together.  Also the first time Abbott and Costello appeared with Joe Besser and Hillary Brooke (later regulars on their TV show), it’s Africa Screams!

NO MERE STORM CAN STOP THE DARK VAULT!

UNCLE PETE and Max are deep in the Control Room of THE DARK VAULT, safe from the raging snow storm – or so they think until a bit of a blizzard kicks up.  But despite the Arctic conditions, UNCLE PETE still manages to dig up a drift of trailers and fun bits.  So tune in this Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 10PM to midnight (with replays at midnight and 2AM) on channel 4 (Binghamton), 17 (Montrose/Sayre), 99 (Elmira/Corning/Hornell and Utica/Rome) and 30 in the North Country (Watertown/Champlain/Ogdensburg/Malone/Massena).  From tundra to the jungle, it’s The Fatal Glass Of Beer and Africa Screams – a brand new episode – on the next DARK VAULT OF PUBLIC DOMAIN!

(And for all you Roku users, don’t forget to tune in to The DVOPD on Beta Max TV this weekend for some ground shakin’, big beastie action with Attack Of The Monsters.  It happens this Saturday at 7PM!)
